Scouts are the longest formed age group, founded in 1907 by Lord Baden-Powell, enjoying their first camp on Brownsea Island not long afterwards. It is even more popular today than it has
ever been with the numbers of boys and girls joining Scouts increasing annually.
Our Scout section is lead by a variety of leaders and helpers, with the scouts enjoying an active
programme including pioneering (building structures with wooden poles and rope), hiking, backwoods cooking (cooking on open fires), map reading, climbing, shooting and swimming and a more advanced level of first aid including CPR. They take part in regular
camps both locally and much further afield.
Scouts are aged between 10 and 14 and during their time in scouts they have the opportunity to achieve their Cheif Scout Gold Award along with many
other challenge badges.
