Thank you for taking time to look at our web page, we are a traditional Scout Group with currently approximately ninety young members and
over twenty adult leaders and helpers. All of our Leaders are volunteers and recieve no payment for the time they give to the group.
The group was established
about ninety years ago in Wick before moving a number of times to its current home at Linden Park twenty five years ago.
We consider ourselves as a totally inclusive
group with members being boys and girls of any ability, with our hall being fully accessible for wheelchairs. Our youngest members can join Beavers at six years old, Cubs at eight years, Scouts at ten and half years and Explorers at fourteen. Children can
join at any age without having had to attend the younger sections.
We undertake a wide and varied range of activities including cooking on open fires, survival
skills, map reading, first aid, climbing, shooting and camping skills.
We also teach air rifle target shooting (with parental permission) using fully qualified instructors. We
have our own large indoor climbing wall again supervised by qualified leaders. We have a large area of secure grounds at the rear of the main hall used for outdoor activities such as camp fires, cooking and camping, in addition we have access to a shared secure
campsite in Angmering (Dappers Lane).
As well as the team of Leaders we have a group of Trustees who ensure the group runs and operates within the policies of Scouting UK. The trustees
also help raise funds and assist with building and grounds maintainence. The Trustees are keenly lead by our Chair, Glenn Howard.
As a group we are keen to be part of the wider
community and actively support many of the events within the town. We were one of the founding groups and continue to support the increasingly popular Armed Forces Day in June. We have built a reputation of building spectacular floats for the Bonfire
Parade as well as supporting the Town Show, late night Christmas Shopping etc.
